Another trend I am personally NOT feeling this season (alongside the continuing Nude trend) is the ruffle and pleat trend.

Ruffles in my opinion are for bad designers and bad tailoring – ruffles are meant as a distraction to cover up tailoring gone wrong – that is my explanation for the need for any ruffles anywhere, ever.

So when talented designers and their seamsters/ seamstresses send high volumes of big ruffles down their runways – as you can imagine – I for one am not amused.

There are some designers we expect to do anything that is flashy in your face – so I do not judge D&G – they can ruffle away.

Then there are the designers who I have never liked anyway – Stella MacCartney and Chloe spring to mind – they can ruffle away too.

But Marc Jacobs?!

And Burberry Prorsum?!

Oh please don’t break my heart…

AND WHAT EXACTLY was she wearing to the show as well?!

Is this an oversized gold 80’s hair scrunchie turned into a misfit of a dress?!

Oh, Christopher Bailey, you definitely know better than this!! Please – we love you, don’t do this to us.

The influence on lingerie on outerwear clearly started on the runways for AW 09/10 and guess what – its sticking around for another season. one a bit warmer where we might actually be able to rock the look too.

Underwear as outerwear is here for 2010 and definitely one of spring’s biggest trends.

Terrifying memories of 1990 Madonna cone bra looks?!

And no, see it as seductive layering of multiple sheers – we’re not rocking out like Madonna’s Gaultier come bra. no fear.

Maybe some sheer lace body in the style of Gaga you fear now?

No no, not that either (though we do love Madonna and Gaga both very much).

Stay clear of the bright red (or the bright anything really) for sure and the blacks if you don’t want to be too seductive…

Head to Marks & Spencer for its collection of elegant nude pieces, and Bodas for its beautifully coloured bras, and seek out retro shapes from antique markets, fairs, and vintage shops.

Stick with the nude trend and it should be a safe way to rock the lingerie look.

Having a full time day job and missing out on the big scheduled weekday shows does not mean I cannot go to the weekend shows of course – the On/Off at Victoria House is always amazingly fun and bursting with young up and coming creative genius!

Nude was supposed to be the new-found colour of humility and restraint…no big brights, no bling bling…we were gonna wear nudes (extremely expensive nudes mind you) and pretend to be poor…well those rich were gonna act it and the rest of us were actually gonna be it…

However, in 2010 we apparently are slowly crawling out of the crunch and voila the nude trend still continues to live amongst us…

In what form?

Where?

It is pinkish.

It is pale.

It could be salmon.

It is cafe au lait.

It could be lifeless.

It is NUDE.

Who wears it? Well…who doesn’t?

I spy with my little eye…Eva Mendes…Kate Moss…Charlize Theron…some random runway models…is that Scarlett Johansson? Well you get the drift… speaking of which…where’s our macro-biotic Gwynnie – I’d think nude is just the thing for her…non?!

Earthy.

Subtle.

Flesh-toned.

Neutral.

Peachy.

Who am I guessing will not be rocking the nude look too soon?
